An environment friendly technique for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles has been reported. Silver nanoparticle have been synthesized using water extract of leaves of pucuk idat (Cratoxylum glaucum), commonly known as local Bangka plant. The flavonoid and tannin present in the extract act as reducing agent. AgNO3 0,05 M solution was reducing using the extract at room temperature by stirring. Color changing of the solution was detected at 30 minutes reaction time. The color tends to be darker by the increasing of reaction time. Various techniques used to characterize synthesized nanoparticles are UV-Visible spectrophotometer, x-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). UV-Visible spectrophotometer showed absorbance peak in 405 nm, the XRD shows that silver nanoparticles formed are crystalline. The average particle size of Ag nanoparticles estimated from the Scherrer formula is 35,59 nm, while SEM image shows shape of silver nanoparticle is random and some spherical shape.
Chitosan have been successfully produced from the dried shrimp home industry waste (Bangka, Indonesia). Extraction of chitosan was carried out in four steps: deproteinization, demineralization, decolorization and deacetylation of chitin. The effect of deproteinization temperature and NaOH concentration on deacetylation process was studied. The results shown that the increase of deproteinization from 30°C to 90°C causes the decrease of chitosan deacetylation degree (DD). The increase of deproteinization temperature triggers excess depolymerization which damages the chitin structure so that it has a negative effect on the chitosan DD. On the other hand, the increase of NaOH concentration from 20% to 60%, the chitosan DD increased. The diffusion rate of OH” causes increment of OH” attack to the amino group thus realizing the effective deacetylation of chitin. The highest chitosan DD was up to 88.89% is achieved under the optimized conditions of this process and the occurrence of deacetylation structurally demonstrated by the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) characterization
ABSTRACTSrimenati Village is a sub-district in Sungailiat Subdistrict, Bangka Regency, which only has 1 garbage disposal location. Waste processing is generally only crushed and distributed to landfills and waste banks. So far, solid waste processing has only been carried out by Community Self-Help Groups (KSM). Less optimal compost processing that has been done so that the quality of compost produced is still low, the limited EM4 stimulator due to high costs and the lack of quality compost processing innovation. In this service program, counseling was conducted on improving the quality of household waste-based compost, community service partners, namely from the Srimenanti Jaya community self-help group (KSM) and the surrounding community. Approximately 31 participants participated in this program, activities were carried out by direct and indirect counseling methods as well as monitoring and evaluation through questionnaires. Basically, the quality of compost can be improved if you pay attention to several parameters, one of which is the C / N ratio, microbes that break down organic matter require carbon as an energy source for growth and nitrogen for protein formation. The selected microbes are also known as Effective Microorganism 4 (EM4). The results of this service can provide information to the community about the use of household waste and its processing into liquid organic fertilizer and reduce community dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers. Keywords: EM4; KSM; organic fertilizers; garbage.
