A doença intestinal inflamatória (DII) em felinos é decorrente de uma resposta imune exacerbada a presença de antígenos na mucosa gastrointestinal. Essa afecção é uma das principais causas de vômitos e diarreias crônicas em pequenos animais, não apresentando predisposição sexual e sendo observada em animais de meia idade. O tratamento mais empregado é a terapia imunossupressora, que de maneira ideal, deve ser diminuída gradativamente até ser completamente suspensa. Porém, alguns animais precisam de uma terapia a longo prazo, que pode acarretar uma série de efeitos colaterais. Pensando em uma alternativa terapêutica menos deletéria, esse trabalho tem como objetivo relatar o caso de um felino da raça persa, macho, de seis anos de idade, diagnosticado com DII que foi encaminhado para o tratamento com a cannabis medicinal. O animal chegou com um histórico de diarreia com hematoquezia e êmese após a tentativa de diminuição da dose de budesonida. A budesonida foi trocada pela prednisolona e foi receitado o óleo de cannabis, com evolução gradativa da dose administrada, até a interrupção completa dos sinais clínicos. Após o ajuste de doses, foi possível observar a melhora clínica do felino, que além de não apresentar mais sintomas gastrointestinais, se mostrou menos receoso a situações que, anteriormente a terapia canábica, geravam estresse e alterações comportamentais. Considerando a evolução do quadro clínico e do bem-estar do animal, sugere-se que o uso da cannabis medicinal no tratamento da DII, foi eficaz.
