As Metodologias Ativas (MA) rompem com o ensino tradicional, e são capazes de proporcionar maior autonomia e criticidade ao educando. Aliadas às Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) e à Educação a Distância (EaD), em especial, estas metodologias possibilitam ganhos ao processo de ensino-aprendizagem. Assim sendo, este trabalho procura visualizar se as MA estão sendo utilizadas na prática da educação presencial e a distância e faz um levantamento de quais são elas. Para tal, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica de abordagem qualitativa. Se tratando de educação em geral, segundo a literatura selecionada, as principais Metodologias Ativas relatadas são aprendizagem baseada em problemas, pedagogia da problematização, problematização com Arco de Maguerez, estudos de caso, grupos reflexivos, interdisciplinares de tutoria e de facilitação, exercícios em grupo, seminários, relato crítico de experiência, mesas-redondas, socialização, plenárias, exposições dialogadas, debates temáticos, leitura comentada, oficinas, apresentação de filmes, interpretações musicais, dramatizações, dinâmicas lúdico-pedagógicas, portfólio e avaliação oral. Na Educação a Distância, a aprendizagem baseada em problemas, a sala de aula invertida, a aprendizagem baseada em projetos e a instrução por pares. São citados também a gamificação, estudo de caso, simulações e seminários, objetos virtuais de aprendizagem, problematização com Arco de Maguerez, encontro presencial e ferramenta Glossário. O trabalho limitou-se a abordagem de obras já publicadas, que têm como fonte primária, em suma, relatos de experiência. Buscou-se a partir deste, subsidiar estudos e escolhas metodológicas de docentes de diferentes áreas, além de suscitar discussões acerca dos desafios concernentes ao desenvolvimento das MA e da EaD.Palavras-chave: Educação a Distância.
