A high-gain step-up non-isolated dc-dc converter is proposed in this study, named the double boost-flyback converter. The topology combines two conventional boost-flyback converters with input-parallel and floating-output connections. The new topology increases the static gain and reduces the input current ripple in relation to the conventional boost-flyback topology. The proposed converter has the potential to be used in low input voltage applications that require a high gain, such as systems powered by photovoltaic panels, fuel cells, electric vehicles, and low voltage batteries. This study provides details on the principle of operation, static gain, control strategy, design guide and experimental verification. A 1 kW prototype was designed and built for an input voltage of 48 V and an output voltage of 800 V, reaching a static gain of 16.67. The maximum efficiencies obtained were 94.6% at 70% of load and 93.9% at rated load.
HIGH GAIN DOUBLE BOOST-FLYBACK CONVERTERAbstract -A high gain step-up non-isolated dc-dc converter is proposed in this paper, named as high stepup Double Boost-Flyback, the topology combines two conventional Boost-Flyback converters in input-parallel and floating-output connections. The new topology increases the static gain and reduces the input current ripple in relation to the conventional Boost-Flyback topology. The proposed converter has potential to be used in low input voltage applications that requires a high gain as such as systems powered by photovoltaic panels, fuel cells and low voltage batteries. This paper presents principle of operation, static gain, control strategy, and design example. The experimental verification was carried out in a prototype of 1 kW with input and output voltage of 48 V and 800 V, respectively, reaching a static gain of 16.67. A maximum efficiency of 94.6% was achieved at 70% of load and 93.9% at rated load.
This paper proposes a system to connect a small wind turbine to the electric grid, which controls the current injected into the mains and it tracks the maximum power of the generator. The proposed system is based on a three-phase diode bridge rectifier, a DC-DC Forward converter that provides electrical isolation, gain and control, and a FullBridge inverter, which it is fed in current and it is switched at low frequency. The analysis of the topological states, principle of operation, dynamic models, controller structures, simulation results and experimental results for a 1 kW system connected to the mains (220 V/ 60 Hz) are presented herein.
