Historically, the guide cable system for installation of subsea oil production equipment has proven its efficiency. These cables extend from the rig to the wellhead, which are fixed to the guide base posts and will be subject to loads during the installation and operation of the production equipment. The majority of guide base designs have been calculated by analytical methods, although they allow obtaining exact answers in all infinite points of a structure, they are not applicable to all cases. This motivated the application of finite element analysis method (FEA) in this work, which from the development of approximate procedures can be applied regardless of the structure shape and loading conditions. This paper consists of a structural analysis of the guide base frame model, generated in Autodesk Inventor® software and analyzed in ANSYS® Workbench. The study brings a diagnostic research using a quantitative and exploratory approach. Different mathematical models were generated to obtain the results at the most critical points of the structure in order to determine its resistance to the loads applied during installation and operation, taking into account the criteria laid down in DNV 2.7-3, API 17D 1st Ed and von-Mises equivalent stress.
Government institutions have sought to improve their processes in project management in an effort to elevate their maturity levels using models that clearly identify the weaknesses in the management of their projects. This article aims to show a case study by applying the Project Management Maturity Model (Prado -PMMM), developed by Darci Prado, in a Research and Development (R&D) Institution of the Brazilian Federal Government. The scores show that the maturity level in project management is weak (institutional level equal to 2.47). The main causes for this score are attributed to the lack of knowledge and the unpreparedness of some sectors and project managers. It was also observed that the dimension named Technical Competence presents the highest value (46%), considered a good score. On the other hand, the dimension involving Behavioral Competence presents the lowest value (9%), which, according to the used methodology, is considered weak, indicating that investments must be made to enhance this dimension.
The thermal analysis of electronic equipment relies significantly on the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to predict component heat dissipation. The commercial software CFX was used in order to analyse the thermal parameters in electronic equipment where several values of velocity were explored in a model with a turbulent mixed forced cooling flow. The finite-volume method has been used to solve the problem equations throughout the physical domain with the standard k-є turbulence model. To the numerical simulations there were analysed the maximum temperature in function of the heat flux and injection velocity to laminar and turbulent flow and the visualization could also help with the selection of a numerical flow modelling strategy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
