RESUMENLa vegetación es un recurso natural clave para el equilibrio del ecosistema por lo que es necesario disponer de información cuantitativa sobre sus características y distribución. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar la diversidad y el valor de importancia de la vegetación natural en el Parque Nacional Lihué Calel a través de índices cuantitativos con el propósito de contribuir a su conservación. Se calcularon parámetros tales como frecuencia, dominancia y densidad. Sus valores relativos permitieron conocer el índice de valor de importancia de cada especie de Cottam y Curtis. Además se obtuvieron el índice de riqueza específica de Margalef y Menhinick, de dominancia de Simpson, de equidad de Shannon-Wiener y de Pielou para conocer la diversidad de la vegetación. Como resultado se identificaron 33 especies pertenecientes principalmente al estrato arbustivo y herbáceo. Las familias representativas fueron Larrea y Poaceae. Los valores de los índices mostraron que existe una gran cantidad de especies en el área, que la comunidad no posee especies dominantes y por lo tanto la diversidad es mayor; que es una formación equitativa y que todas las especies son abundantes. Estas conclusiones permitieron comprender la necesidad de conservar la vegetación natural del área.
El estudio de la vegetación desde la Geografía se centra en el análisis de su distribución espacial y los factores que inciden en la misma. Uno de ellos es el clima que determina las características de las formaciones vegetales y en una escala más grande, a las comunidades. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la relación clima-vegetación mediante las adaptaciones de la comunidad del jarillal con respecto al clima semiárido en el Parque Nacional Lihué Calel, provincia de La Pampa, Argentina. Para ello se realizó el balance hídrico de Thornthwaite y Mather para el área de estudio utilizando datos de la estación meteorológica del parque pertenecientes al período 1995-2010. Se aplicaron los índices bioclimáticos de Lang, Emberger, De Martonne y Currey y se realizaron los cuadrados o stands correspondientes para conocer la composición florística y su fisonomía. Finalmente se analizaron las respuestas adaptativas identificadas en los individuos vegetales relevados y se comprobó que el clima semiárido condiciona la morfología y fisonomía del jarillal. Para el área de estudio se definió la presencia de vegetación xerófila con predominio de arbustos y un patrón de distribución abierta. El déficit hídrico da lugar a adaptaciones como por ejemplo la: pérdida de hojas en la estación desfavorable, el reemplazo de espinas por hojas, hojas pequeñas y resinosas, inclinación de la hoja y raíces extensas.
El objetivo del trabajo fue valorar el patrimonio geomorfológico del Parque Nacional Lihué Calel (La Pampa, Argentina) con el fin de contribuir al conocimiento de su geodiversidad. Para ello, se identificaron las geoformas de las sierras y se aplicó el método de González Trueba y Serrano Cañadas (2005) sobre los geomorfositios. Se valoraron siete sitios según sus características intrínsecas, aspectos culturales, educativos y forma actual de uso y gestión. Dos de ellos tienen un valor mayor ya que además del recurso natural cuentan con equipamiento y son un atractivo turístico del área protegida.
