Workshop on the global economy and international economic relations prepared by the staff of the Department of world economy and international business, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation in accordance with Federal state educational standard of higher education in the direction "Economics" profile "World economy and international business". The workshop provides tasks on the main problems of the modern world economy and international economic relations. The proposed tasks are based on the principles of competence-based approach.

The article deals with the evolution of development banks and their activities in the modern era. When collecting and processing materials for the article, the authors use general scientific methods of research (generalization, aggregation, classification, comparison), and methods of economic processes forecasting. The authors conclude that development banks are historically established investment financial institutions. The process of the development banks evolution includes four main stages, each of which reflects the socioeconomic features. Development banks in the XXI century are established on a regional and parity basis by economically developed countries. The authors indicate strategic areas of the development banks activity at present stage, in particular, financing innovative and infrastructure projects in the transport, telecommunications and energy sectors, financing small and medium-sized business development projects, and providing social protection to the population.
China's economic policies were transformed during the reform period that started in 1979, when the most populated country in the world adopted market-based reforms. Currently, China not only has grown to become the second largest and mid income economy in the world from one of the world's poorest countries, but also actively advances the free trade policy and fills the developing niches, although the latter has caused some concerns. The Chines active economic policy along with its economic and political strengthening in addition to the tensions with the United States rise the question whether the Chinese economic policy should be resisted? This paper analyses the different aspects of China’s economic policy and intents to answer the question based on the importance of the Chinese role in the world economy and development while the public opinion toward China’s economic strengthening has been considered as well.
