RESUMO: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, do tipo exploratório, descritivo, cujo objetivo foi compreender os significados de ser familiar cuidador do paciente portador de transtorno mental. O estudo foi desenvolvido com familiares de portadores de transtornos mentais, atendidos na Clínica Integrada de Atenção Básica à Saúde, no município de Biguaçu-SC, vinculada à Universidade do Vale do Itajaí. Dados qualitativos foram obtidos por entrevista dialógica e analisados com base na teoria do Tornar-se Humano. Da análise dos dados emergiram as seguintes categorias: e a experiência do transtorno mental em família; o enfrentamento das dificuldades e limitações; a interrelação em família e com "outros"; a co-criação das possibilidades de transcendência. Concluiu-se que viver a teoria do Tornar-se Humano com o familiar cuidador do portador de transtorno mental, implica na co-participação do(a) enfermeiro(a) na iluminação dos significados das situações vivenciadas, co-transcendendo as suas próprias condições de ser e agir no mundo, na busca de melhor qualidade de vida. THE MEANING OF GIVING MENTAL HEALTH CARE TO FAMILYABSTRACT: The objective of this qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive study was to understand the meanings of being a caregiver to family members with mental disorders. The study was conducted among relatives of patients with mental disorders, attended at the Integrated Clinic of Primary Health Care in the municipality of Biguaçu-SC, Universidade do Vale do Itajaí. Qualitative data was generated through dialogic interviews and analyzed using the theory of Becoming Human. Four categories emerged from analysis: the experience of mental disorder in families; coping with its difficulties and limitations; relationships with family and "others"; co-creation of the possibilities for transcendence. We conclude that living the theory of Becoming Human including a family member mental patient caregiver involves the co-participation of the nurse as a caregiver, in illuminating with meaning the experienced situations, thus co-transcending their own conditions of being and acting in the world in search of a better quality of life. Trata-se de uma pesquisa histórica cujo objetivo foi historicizar a equipe de enfermagem e os pacientes no Hospital Colônia Sant'Ana (HCS), no período de 1941 a 1960. Foram entrevistados cinco funcionários que trabalharam no Hospital no período do estudo e utilizadas outras fontes documentais. Para análise dos dados foi utilizado o referencial foucaultiano. O HCS se caracterizou como principal pólo de assistência psiquiátrica no Estado Catarinense. A equipe de Enfermagem era constituída pelas religiosas, "enfermeiros" e "vigilantes". A instituição recebia pacientes indigentes, conveniados e particulares, com variados diagnósticos médicos e até mesmo, somente casos sociais. As condições gerais do Hospital eram precárias. O período estudado possibilitou visualizar que o tratamento dispensado aos doentes, assim como as condições de trabalho oferecidas aos trabalhadores, estavam distantes do ideal, faziam parte de uma política nacional, caracterizada pela criação de macro hospitais psiquiátricos estatais.
Trata-se de estudo com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo é refletir com mulheres portadoras de transtornos psíquicos, o vivenciar de seu cotidiano, identificando os significados e co-construindo possibilidades de "vir-a-ser mais" como cidadãs. O estudo foi desenvolvido com moradoras de uma Residência Terapêutica, vinculada ao Instituto de Psiquiatria de Santa Catarina, em São José/SC. A coleta dos dados efetivou-se concomitante à implementação do processo de cuidado, segundo a teoria de Parse. Na análise dos dados foram identificados os seguintes significados: convivendo com o transtorno psíquico; co-constituindo padrões de inter-relação com outros; convivendo com as dificuldades de enfrentamento e superação de limites; co-criando possibilidades de vir-a-ser em saúde, cidadania e qualidade de vida; e co-construindo a Residência Terapêutica como espaço de reabilitação psicossocial. Concluiu-se que vivenciar este processo propiciou mudanças de perspectivas destas mulheres, contribuindo para a mobilização de transcendências, no sentido de "vir-a-ser mais" como ser humano.
O processo de trabalho de enfermeiras e enfermeiros nas emergências é gerador de estresse e traz à tona fragilidades do profissional no tocante a sentimentos referentes ao sofrimento e vivência cotidiana com a morte. Isto, em decorrência da interação e o envolvimento necessário à assistência e nas tomadas de decisão em acordo a gravidade do paciente e família. Assim, este estudo objetiva conhecer o enfrentamento da enfermeira no cuidado diante do processo de morte, em emergência. Pesquisa documental, realizada com oito enfermeiras numa emergência de um hospital privado de Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil, entre maio e junho de 2015. Os dados foram analisados à luz da análise de conteúdo de Bardin e da relação interpessoal de Travelbee. Emergiram duas categorias: A morte vivida por enfermeiras em emergência, O Humano e o técnico no enfrentamento da morte em emergência. Conclui-se que o enfermeiro ao lidar com a morte em meio ao cuidado de restauração da vida mostra-se limitado e necessita de amparo emocional e racional para o cuidado a essa clientela nesse ambiente específico.
Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa de natureza sócio-histórica cujo objetivo foi historicizar o tratamento prestado aos pacientes psiquiátricos internados no antigo Hospital Colônia Santa'Ana (HCS), no período de 1941 a 1960. Para a coleta de dados foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com cinco funcionários que trabalharam no Hospital no período, utilizando-se o Método de História Oral (HO). Após a análise das entrevistas utilizando-se da análise de conteúdo de Bardin, chegou-se aos seguintes resultados: os doentes psiquiátricos internados faziam uso de algumas terapias como: eletrochoque, insulinoterapia, cardiazol, psicofármacos, praxiterapia e assistência heterofamiliar. Embora muitas destas terapias atualmente estejam em desuso, e sejam criticadas por diversos segmentos sociais, estavam na época, em consonância ao preconizado pela psiquiatria mundial.
