This paper introduces a new multi-instance key regeneration system used to regenerate cryptographic keys from biometric data. The serial concatenation of Reed-Solomon and Hadamard codes is used with a single mechanism that improves the biometric performance and security of the system, also making possible the regeneration of longer and higher entropy cryptographic keys. The system was evaluated on two public databases: CBS and NIST-ICE 2005. On NIST-ICE 2005 it is possible to regenerate a 287 binary digit cryptographic key with estimated entropy of 160 bits at 0% False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and 0.3371% False Rejection Rate (FRR).
Abstract-Iterative decoding in two dimensions over the binary erasure channel is investigated when identical linear binary cyclic codes are employed in each dimension. An important characteristic of the parity-check matrix of cyclic codes allows, in many cases of practical interest, an implementation with low complexity of iterative decoding with cyclic permutation, instead of the well known cubic complexity. By means of computer simulation a considerable gain in performance is observed when iterative decoding with cyclic permutations is employed instead of iterative decoding without cyclic permutations. It is also presented a comparative analysis of various iterative decoding algorithms in two dimensions, using as examples the product codes (49, 16, 9), (225, 121, 9) and (225, 49, 25), including simulation results.
Abstract-A cyclically permutable code (CP code) is a binary code whose codewords are cyclically distinct and have full cyclic order. The purpose of this paper is to construct CP codes by means of linear p-ary constacyclic codes, where p denotes a prime number. An efficient method is used to select codewords from a constacyclic code which are constacyclically distinct and have full constacyclic order. Through a cyclic representation for the elements of GF(p) and by a correspondence of twodimensional arrays and N -tuples, the codewords selected produce the codebook of a CP code. The cyclically permutable codes proposed can be applied to audio and/or video watermarking systems.
A new test called rotation search is proposed for user identification and cryptographic key regeneration in systems employing a digital representation of the iris (iris code). When applied to the BIOSECURE, CASIA and NIST-ICE data bases the rotation search shows, on average, a two fold reduction in false rejection ratio (FRR) with a false acceptance ratio (FAR) equal to zero, in comparison with the standard search employed in other systems. The highest improvement reached in FRR by the rotation search against the standard search is 100 times, and in many cases the measured FRR is equal to zero.
