Die verschiedenen Wege der Ansteckung, welche man bei der Tuberculose des 3Ienschen beobaChtet hatte, war man bemfiht, im Thierversuehe nachzu~hmen und so welter aufzuklfiren; man hat die mannigfaehen Krankheitsformen der Tubereul0se experimentell nSher studirt, auch hat man versucht. die Erblichkeit der Krankheit, die Uebertragung des Krankheitskeimes yon Seiten der Eltern auf die Frucht, einer eingehenden Forschung zu unterziehen; der Ver]auf der Infection bei verschiedenen Thierarten ist eingehend studirt.So besitzen wir denn, dank den zahlreichen Arbeiten auf diesem Gebiete, andertha!b Decennien nach der grossen Entdeckung R. Koch's fiber die LebensSusserungen des Tuberculoseerregers im ThierkSrper mannigfache, zum Theil recht werthvolle Kenntnisse, yon denen wir hoffen kSnnen, dass sie uns in dem unermfidlich fortgeffihrten Kampf gegen den grSss~en Feind des ~Iensehengeschleehtes noch gute Waffen liefern werden.Was bisher fiber den Erreger der Tuberculose gearbeitet worden isL des hat so ziemlich Alles der im December 1896 leider verstorbene J. Straus, ~ dem diese speeielle Wissenschaft selbst so Vieles verdankt, in seinem Pasteur gewidmeten Werke zusammengefasst.
