For the alloys Y2Fe17, Y2(Fe0.9M0.1)17, where M = Al and Si, the X‐ray diffraction pictures, magnetic properties, Mössbauer effect at 57Fe nucleus, heat capacity, and optical conductivity were studied. The Curie temperature enhancement of the substitutional alloys Y2(Fe0.9M0.1)17 (M = Al, Si) compared to the Y2Fe17 alloy is explained in terms of the strong decrease in spin‐up density of states at the Fermi level. This is due to valence electrons of the substitution atoms filling the 3d band.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
