This paper presents a general method to synthesize a four-pole transversal filter composed of the banking of two twopole filters. This method is here applied to the case of a transversal filter realized with quarter cut resonators acting on whispering gallery modes. Experimental realization at 20 GHz is presented to demonstrate the efficiency of our method.weak so that only narrow band filters can be realized. An original topology of DR, which is a quarter cut resonator acting on Whispering Gallery Modes (cf. figure 1) can help to remedy these problems. Using such a resonator allows first to reduce the device size. Moreover, for symmetrical reasons, only the WGM with even azimuthal variations can exist in the quarter cut DR. The other WG modes will be then suppressed, increasing at the same time the mode isolation.
This paper discusses the utilization of an original topology of dielectric resonator acting on whispering gallery modes for the design offilters for telecommunication systems applications. A miniaturized volumic two poles filter using two quarter cut resonators coupled to two microstrip lines is presented. Experimental elliptic filter has been realized to prove the efficiency of this new topology.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
