Із метою визначення гемодинамічних і морфометричних особливостей пролапсу мітрального клапана запального й незапального генезу за допомогою методу допплерехокардіографії обстежені 34 дитини віком від 5 до 17 років. У дітей із пролапсом мітрального клапана запального генезу вірогідно частіше виявлялося потовщення стінок міокарда й маси міокарда, що свідчило про гіпертрофію лівого шлуночка; частіше виявлявся пролапс ІІ–ІІІ ступеня; вірогідно частіше — мітральна регургітація ІІІ ступеня, що вело до розвитку хронічної серцевої недостатності. У 83,3–94,4 % випадків установлене значне й різке підвищення ультразвукової щільності папілярних м’язів лівого шлуночка, що не було характерним для пролапсу незапального генезу. У всіх дітей із пролапсом мітрального клапана переважало підвищення ультразвукової щільності передньої стулки. Потовщення передньої стулки більше ніж 3 мм вірогідно частіше спостерігалось у дітей із пролапсом мітрального клапана запального генезу.
У статті наведено випадок інфекційного ендокардиту, що розвинувся в післяопераційному періоді у дитини 1 року 10 місяців із хворобою Дауна, множинними уродженими вадами розвитку серця і шлунково-кишкового тракту. Клінічний випадок показав роль факторів ризику у розвитку інфекційного ендокардиту у дитини: уродженої вади серця, неодноразових оперативних втручань, тривалого внутрішньовенного застосування лікарських препаратів за допомогою венозних катетерів, бактеріємії. Клінічний випадок довів збіг даних ехокардіографічного обстеження ультразвукової щільності оболонок і структур серця з даними патоморфологічного і гістологічного дослідження.
