The absorption spectrum of atomic iodine (I I) has been photographed in the region 1040 – 1600 Å on a 3-metre normal incidence spectrograph. The atomic vapors of iodine were produced by the flash pyrolysis technique using CdI2 and PbI2 powder salts. The Garton flash lamp was used as the background continuum. Out of the sixteen series reported, starting from the 5s2 5p52P03/2 level, six limited on 5p43P2, six on 5p43P1, three on 5p43P0, and one on 5p41D2 of I II. The earlier analyses have been confirmed and extended. Sixty-two additional lines have been classified in the I I spectrum
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
