Perturbed periods characterized by the A A * index compiled from 1868 to 1992 are considered. Our analysis of the geomagnetic activity is done by considering the even-odd effect, that was observed in the maximum solar activity and applying Gumbel's first asymptotic distribution extreme values. The present study shows that the largest geomagnetically perturbed days should have different intensities depending on the parity of the solar cycles in which they occur.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
