The spectral characteristics of light absorption and light emission processes in focal conic and homeotropic structures of smectic‐A liquid crystal containing dichroic dyes including fluorescent ones were obtained. The influence of dichroic dyes introduction on electro‐optical parameters of guest‐host liquid crystal mixtures is discussed. The results allow one to obtain high‐contrast monochrome or two colour grey‐scale images on a wide viewing angle multistable transflective SmA LCD (EASL DMD™, Electrically Addressable Smectic Liquid crystal Daylight Memory Display).
The influence of LC molecular pretilt angle and alignment layer treatment on the texture uniformity of smectic A LC was investigated. The data been obtained can be used for LC-filling display technology and for enhance of LCD image quality.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
