Extra-uterine pregnancy, eccyesis and ectopic pregnancy or gestation include any pregnancy outside the uterine cavity whether in the uterine tube, ovary, broad ligament or abdomen. The most frequent site for eccyesis is in the uterine tubes and it is this condition which is usually meant when the designation ectopic pregnancy is made. In this paper the terms ectopic pregnancy, eccyesis, extra-uterine pregnancy and tubal pregnancy will be used interchangeably.
