ResumoDescreve-se a aproximação do forídeo Psedohypocera kerteszi (Enderlein, 1912) :.ie colônias de abelhas sem ferrão, o seu acasalamento e captura em armadilhas. Veriiicou-se que a cópula se dá no ar em frente a colmeias onde as fêmeas de P. kerteszi procuram fazer a postura. Descreve-se uma armadilha para a captura deste forídeo . Nestas armadilhas a proporção entre fêmeas e machos capturados é de 2,3-2,8 fêmeas para um macho. lNT.RODUÇÃOOs Phoridae, representados por mais de 2500 espécies, são cosmopolitas de hábitos de vida livre, parasitas, predadores. ou comen · sais. Embora diversos pesquisadores tenham descrito os hábitos de Pseudohypocera kerteszi, alguns pormenores da sua biologia necessitam melhor esdsrecimento. Observações complementares são também necessárias quanto ao seu "hab itat" . visto não se poder afirmar que P. kerteszi viva exclusivamente e se reproduza em colônias dos Apinae e Meliponi11\3e, dos quais é predador.Apesar do cosmopolitismo dos forídeos. nenhuma espécie, com os hábitos de P. kerteszi, foi verificada na África Ocidental Sul, onde o autor iniciou os primeiros trabalhos de domesticação dos meliponíneos africanos (Portugai·Araújo, 1955). No Brasil, a sua dispersão é geral e, na região Amazônica, pode transformarse numa praga, especialmente no período das chuvas, se os melijponicultores, em seus meli· ponários, não respeitarem algumas regras de manipulação de colmeias. V. de Portugal-Araújo ( " ) M.ATERIAL E MÉTODOSFoi uti lizado o meliponário experimental do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, situado no seu "campus".O número observado de colônias de abelhas, com presença de forídeos, foi de 93, distribuídas por 36 colmeias experimentais, 6 cai· xas iniciais de observação e 51 troncos povoa· dos transportados da floresta.As observações foram efetuadas diariamente ao longo de um ano e meio.Para captura de exemplares de P. kerteszi e contagem do número de indivíduos. construí· mos e usamos armadilhas de madeira que são descritas mais adiante. OBSERVAÇÕESA presença de forídeos no meliponário c const 3nte, observando-se junto a colônias de abelhas; há diminuição de indivíduos no fim das chuvas. Observa-se, todavia, que em qualquer época do ano o número de forídeos aumenta, aproximadamente, uma hora após a abertura de co lônias silvestres, para a sua transferência para co lmeias ou caixas, de O a 1 por hora, até 50 ou mais .Alguns minutos após ter terminado o tra· balho de transferência de colônias silvestres, por vezes antes, geralmente efetuado entre as 9 e 11 horas do dia, inicia-se a aproximação de grande número de forídeos. fêmeas e macnos. mado "Iridian bread", é diferente do nosso porque germina em laboratorio produzindo basidiocarpo ressupinado. Na Austrália, e provavelmente na India e China, ocorrem também pachymas que produzem frutificações poliporóides férteis, como por exemplo, Polyporus mylitta, espécie australiana, chamada "black fellow's bread" ou "native bread". Tudo indica que todos estes fungos são relacionados e que o nosso "pão do índio" da Amazónia é uma espécie nova. Investigações adicionais são necessárias para verificar se todos eles têm a anatomia suficientemente semelhante para reuni-los em um só género (Pachyma). Para um estudo comparativo, torna-se necessária a obtenção dos respectivos tipos ou materiais autênticos. Nossas investigações serão concluídas neste sentido, não somente por seu interesse taxonómico como também, por seu potencial econômico, que pode ser aproveitado, se cultivado.
