Abstrac tThis paper presents the basis of PDIL, a language designed for specifying protocol s and services and allowing automati c implementation . The main objectives of th e language are unambiguous description , simulation and automatic implementation . Th e first pert presents the objects that PDI L allows to manipulate : machines, channels , contexts, automata, interactions . The secon d part gives an overview of a PDIL descriptio n unit in its language aspect . This paper als o introduces general ideas about the descriptio n of simulation and automatic implementation o f protocols or services .This work is largely based on the presen t result of subgroups A and B o f ISO/SC16/WG1/FDT with significant extensions .
