517.937In the class of generalized functions of finite order, we establish the correct solvability of the Cauchy problem for a pseudodifferential equation whose symbols are homogeneous functions of order γ > 0. We prove a theorem on the localization property of a solution of this problem.
On the effect of electron correlation on the static second hyperpolarizability of π conjugated oligomer chains A good deal has been written about correlation effects of electrons in molecules. We consider a somewhat special type of correlation, viz., the pair correlation of 7r electrons in large molecules. Various attraction mechanisms which lead to this correlation are discussed. We study the behavior of the large 7r electron systems in external electric and magnetic fields (i.e., anomalous diamagnetism, polarizability, analog to the Kirkwood formula). It has been shown that in a strong magnetic field pair correlation leads to an additional reduction of the magnitude of the O--{)' transition. We also consider collective excitations and multiplet structure of the 7r electron spectrum. In Sec. I we consider mechanisms of the pair correla-
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
