Die stellungs-und konfigurationsisomeren n-Octene wurden mit konz. Schwefelsaure sulfatiert und die Isomerenverteilung sowohl in den sich bildenden Alkylsulfaten als auch in dem nicht umgesetzten Olefin bestimmt. LaRt man das Olefin mit einem UnterschuR oder h6chstens mit der aquimolaren Menge an Schwefelsaure so reagieren, daR die Schwefelsaure dem Olefin zugefiigt wird, bilden sich vornehmlich die aufgrund der Doppelbindungslage im eingesetzten Olefin zu erwartenden Alkylsulfat-Isomeren. Wird hingegen das Olefin der Saure zugefiigt bzw. ist diese am Ende im UberschuD vorhanden, so bildet sich unabhangig von der Doppelbindungslage und der Konfiguration des Ausgangsolefins stets das gleiche Isomerengemisch sekundarer Alkylsulfate. Das AusmaR der Bindungsisomerisierung im nicht umgesetzten Olefin entspricht etwa der Isomerenverteilung im Sulfatestergemisch.
