Aluminum sulfate is one of the chemical coagulants most used in the process of water purification for human consumption. However, it is considered a threat to human health, because these ions are associated with diseases of the nervous system, which has led to the study of natural coagulants as a coagulant alternative. The present work has the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of the extract of the mango seeds in the process of water purification of several levels of initial turbidity. The jar test was used to simulate the coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation process, and to determine the effectiveness of a coagulant solution prepared with the mango seed extract, and to compare it with that of the chemical coagulant. Synthetic turbid water (5000 mg / l) was prepared using kaolin in tap water and parameters were measured: turbidity, ph, color, total alkalinity, total solids, before and after the application of different doses of seed preparation 10
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
