This study aims to analyze the difficulty of teachers in implementing learning that focuses on improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The study was a descriptive study. Data were collected via an online form that included open-ended questions. Data were collected from 93 mathematics teachers. Data were analyzed by coding qualitative data using spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. The categories were derived from the participants' own words or phrases. The results showed that 81.2 percent of respondents stated that the difficulty teachers experience to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities is the lack of motivation and disengagement of students and other difficulties. This research also presents alternative solutions that can be practiced by teachers in their respective classes.
Based on PISA results, Indonesian students' reading scores are ranked 72 out of 77 participating countries. This minimal ability certainly needs to be overcome, one of which is by increasing the competence of teachers in schools. a total of 40 participants from various regions participated in this service activity which came from various levels, namely elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational school. Agenda for providing materials related to AKM and PISA-based learning designs and evaluation of activities. Based on the evaluation, it was seen that the workshop participants showed a good category attitude through being creative, cooperative, and independent. This AKM and PISA-oriented Learning Design Workshop has benefits for both the participants and the service team. Based on the results of the evaluation in terms of audio and video quality, the material presented by the resource persons, the method of presenting the material and the use of the language of the service team, the workshop was carried out well
Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is one of the goals to be achieved in the 2013 curriculum. One of the tools to measure students' ability in this skills is through HOTS questions. Based on the questionnaire given to mathematics and science teachers throughout Indonesia, the teachers felt the need to give HOTS questions in class and were interested in attending seminars related to this. Based on the results of the questionnaire, a community service program was to improve the ability of Mathematics and Science teachers in Indonesia to make HOTS questions. The purpose of this webinar is to provide intensive information on the design of HOTS-based learning, provide detailed examples of HOTS-based learning and tips for creating or selecting HOTS-based questions that are relevant to students and scientific developments. This activity was carried out virtually by involving 42 mathematics and science teachers in Indonesia. The evaluation data filled in by the participants at the end of the event showed that the activity was going well. Participants agreed that the material presented answered the participants' needs. Participants also felt an increase in their ability to make HOTS questions after attending this webinar.
