A new tunable linear current mirror topology using a BJT differential pair as a current divider is proposed which is to be an alternative to tunable devices used in analog electronics. The structure has the advantage of simplicity, wide tuning range of five decades and a linear operating region of two decades.

The proposed topology is developed to be used in zero-if mixers. Analysis are performed and the appropriate operation conditions for second harmonically pumped mixing are investigated for the topology which is suitable for functioning in a wide band. SiGe technology is used for the realization of the circuit. Schematic simulations are performed and according to the simulation results, within 1-12GHz range, 20dB of conversion voltage gain and a noise figure less than 14dB is obtained.
