Das von Verunreinigungen freie Sekret der Magenschleimhaut, wie es unter günstigen Umständen beim Menschen mit Hilfe eines Magenschlauches gewonnen werden kann, setzt sich aus dem Parietal-und Nichtparietalzellsekret zusammen. Letzteres ist ein Gcmisch aus dem Sekret der Hauptzellen, der mucoiden Zellen, der Pylorusdrüsen und aus durch die Schleimhaut durchgesickerter interstitieller Flüssigkeit. In Abhängigkeit vom Funktionszustand und damit auch vom Anteil beider Komponenten enthält das Magensekret in bestimmter Menge Wasserstoff-, Chlor-, Natrium-und Kaliumionen. Bei Patienten mit chronischer Gastritis kommt es in Abhängigkeit vom Grade der degenerativ-entzündlichen Schleimhautveränderungen zu einer Reduktion der Gesamtparietalzellzahl und damit auch zu einer Verminderung des Parietalzellsekretes (1, 2, 7, 8, 13, 14).Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung war es festzustellen, in welcher Weise durch die Verminderung des Parietalzellsekretes die typische Elektrolytzusammensetzung des Magensaf tes während verschiedener Sekretionsphasen verändert ist. Die bei den Patienten mit chronischer Gastritis erhobenen Befunde wurden mit denen einer Kontrollgruppe und einer Gruppe 'von Patienten mit Ulcus duodeni verglichen.
