Water samples of the Passaúna River, Curitiba/Paraná (Brazil), were analyzed to determine total and thermotolerant coliform counts and Escherichia coli in order to provide information on human impacts on the water supply. Samples were collected and analyzed monthly, from March 2006 to February 2007, at five different locations along the river, and the multiple tube method was used to obtain total and thermotolerant coliform counts. The results varied from 130 MPN/100 mL to 1.6×10 6 MPN/100 mL for total coliforms, while for thermotolerant coliforms the variation was between 40 MPN/100 mL and 5× 10 5 MPN/100 mL. The E. coli strains isolated from the samples were tested with 13 different antibiotics to determine their antibiotic resistance. The isolated strains were constantly sensitive to seven of the 13 antibiotics tested, and resistant to at least one of the other antibiotics. The results indicated that two factors could influence the increased contamination on this river, viz., seasonality parameters and domestic wastewater discharges. The determination of antibiotic resistance indices aimed to provide information on the anthropogenic influence. Only one of the locations investigated was considered critical due to the anthropogenic influence, with significant impacts from irregular domestic wastewater discharges.
Technological advances allow the science development, with the creation of new materials / equipment and the offer of different products and services. Some of these materials, after use, are discarded, becoming waste. Mismanagement of these wastes and improper handling within the hospital environment can cause serious harm to workers' health. Comprehensive studies in hospital settings are essential to increase knowledge about the risks that workers are exposed to, including biological hazards. Thus, a systematic review is proposed to obtain relevant information on these risks to plan future interventions appropriate to avoid related negative consequences. Thus, following the preferential reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis protocols (PRISMA-P), this systematic review protocol was developed with the objective of presenting suitable guidelines for the development of a research that can provide results to meet the goal sought. Five databases will be accessed (SCOPUS, PubMed, Science Direct, EBSCOhost and Web of Science) and a total of 9 keyword combinations will be used.
Medication errors represent a major health system problem in all countries, reducing patient safety and increasing health-related costs. Among the various types of medication errors, we can mention dispensing errors. They are related to the activity of the hospital pharmacy and can cause serious consequences for the patient. The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliographic search in online databases on medication errors that occurred in the hospital environment during dispensation, identifying the causes and strategies to reduce such errors. The main dispensing errors observed were content and labeling errors. The main causes associated with errors were: lack of knowledge on the part of the team, excessive working hours, interruptions and distractions, similarity in the names, labels and packaging of medicines, absence of double checking and reduction of the pharmacist's assistance activity. Based on the identification of causes, strategies related to communication, working conditions and the environment, information on medicines and the packaging and labeling of medicines were described in order to reduce dispensing errors.
Communication, the odors can contribute to the provision of a given unit of satisfaction to the users of the service offered in a certain servicescape, with the potential to intervene in affective aspects. The specialized literature pointed to a gap on the Aesthetic dimension of Services, including the aesthetics of the odors. In this context, the problem that guided this research was based on the following question: how to use the olfactive aesthetic experience to provide a new perception of the servicescape by the user/client? The objective was to identify the relevant aspects of the olfactive aesthetic experience as a means to provide a new perception of the users/clients regarding the servicescape. The research has an exploratory and qualitative nature, with the application of a bibliographic review and a survey. Results show that the olfactive emotional aspects evoked in a servicescape have the potential to create and reinforce both positive and negative moods in users.
Chemotherapy is a complex and highly specialized process that involves risk, and the success of the results largely depends on the nursing care provided to the patient. Contamination with antineoplastic chemotherapy can occur directly through the skin, membranes, mucous membranes and inhalation or indirectly through body fluids and excreta from patients who received medication within 72 hours. The effects of contamination may be immediate (dermatitis, skin hyperpigmentation and others) or late (partial alopecia, chromosomal abnormalities and increased risk of developing cancer), with risks arising from the inherent toxicity of the drug and the exposure time of individuals. antineoplastic agents. Indispensable care is required for the nursing staff in the administration of chemotherapy, in addition to the institutions providing adequate safety measures for the work of these professionals. Thus, a systematic review is proposed to obtain relevant information on these risks to plan appropriate future interventions to avoid related negative consequences. Thus, following the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis protocols (PRISMA-P), this systematic review protocol was designed to provide appropriate guidelines for the development of research that can provide results to meet the goal sought. Five databases will be accessed (SCOPUS, PubMed, Science Direct, EBSCOhost, and Web of Science) and a total of 9 keyword combinations will be used.
