Background: Despite extensive research, the mechanisms regulating the interaction between protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1) and GluA2 are still unclear. Results: Glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) phosphorylates PICK1. Phosphorylated PICK1 binds to GluA2. Conclusion: GSK-3 regulates the GluA2-PICK1 interaction. Significance: This study contributes to our understanding of the mechanisms of long-term depression, an Alzheimer diseaserelated event.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
