A review of Polish and foreign literature on the subject shows a deficit of research and significant publications on the issue of violence against or among the d/Deaf. Academic researchers who focus on this subject area try to draw conclusions embracing the entire population of people with disabilities (excluding the population of the deaf). Pointing to the experiences and perspective of d/Deaf victims of violence is not a common practice. Numerous have an influence on the phenomenon of violence against or among d/Deaf people: the education system, society's attitude, stereotypical perceptions of hearing people about the Deaf, and difficulties related to communication. This article aims to familiarise the reader with what is known about the phenomenon of violence against or among the d/Deaf. The d/Deaf community is struggling with the invisible and, for the able part of society, the hidden phenomenon of violence, discrimination due to deafness (audism), sign language (linguistics) or the specificity of violence against the d/Deaf themselves. A theoretical analysis aimed at filling the existing gap in the field of social sciences is therefore justified.
