As is widely known one ofthe great promises of laser-based communications is the potential to achieve free-space communications with data rates in the Gbps. There could be a utility to the United States Air Force by teaming this potential communication capability with advanced sensors that generate large volumes of data. In this paper this potential is explored with a particular focus on issues unique to applying lasers to communications in an airborne environment.
We report an optical fiber ultrasound transmitter with electrospun MWCNT-polymer composite, generating high-amplitude broadband ultrasound. They produced pressures in the range of conventional intravascular imaging transducers, and can be incorporated into catheters/needles for keyhole surgery.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
