The 176 subjects attending a fine and performing arts high school were given the High School Personality Questionnaire to determine the validity of the Leadership Potential Score. The instrument did not differentiate between talented individuals who actually held positions of leadership and those who did not. The two groups did not differ on any of the primary factors of the questionnaire.
The study included 199 intellectually gifted students and 176 students in the fine and performing arts who were administered the High School Personality Questionnaire. The results indicated that the gifted students obtained higher Leadership Potential scores, while the talented students scored higher in Creativity. Several significant differences were found in the personality profiles of the two groups.
79 students enrolled in an Honors College curriculum were administered the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire to determine their leadership potential scores. Significant differences were found between individuals who actually held leadership positions and those who did not. Other studies using larger samples need to be undertaken to replicate this study.
