The novel carborane ~-1,2-trimethylene-l,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane(l0) has been prepared and characterized. The carborane was found to undergo base degradation to form the p-1,2-trimethylene-(3)-1,2-dicarbadecahydro-nido-undecaborate(1 -) ion which after deprotonation would react with transition metals to form several sandwich-bonded complexes of the type [M"+(BgC5H15)2]m-4 and (C5H5)M1II(BC5Hl5). The formal nickel(1V) and cobalt(II1) complexes were found to undergo thermal rearrangements and the kinetics of the facile ligand isomerizations of Ni(B9C5H1& were determined using reverse current chronopotentiometry and visible spectroscopy.he (3)-1,2-dicarbollide ion3-6 has been shown to
Biscarborane, l-[l'-l',2'-dicarba-tioso-dodecaborane( 12)]-1,2-dicarba-c/oso-dodecaborane( 12), I, has been found to act as a novel chelating agent with transition metal ions, forming

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
