Die logistische Leistungsfähigkeit stellt einen entscheidenden Erfolgsfaktor für moderne produzierende Unternehmen dar. Ein aktuell entwickelter Ansatz ermöglicht es Unternehmen, den umfassenden Reifegrad Ihrer Produktionslogistik aufwandsarm zu ermitteln und so Schwachstellen und Potenziale zu erkennen. Grundlage dafür stellen Modelle und Methoden aus verschiedenen Fachbereichen dar, welche hierzu anwendungsorientiert zusammengetragen sind. Über die reine Bewertung hinaus können einem Anwender darauf aufbauend zielgerichtete Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der logistischen Performance an die Hand gegeben werden.
Kurzfassung
Der Beitrag zeigt den Einsatz von Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) als vertikal integrierte Managementinformationssysteme. Neben einem Überblick zu den Funktionen der am Markt erhältlichen MES-Software werden Nutzen und Kostenpotenziale aufgezeigt. Erfahrungen bei der Auswahl und Einführung runden die Übersicht zu MES als Managementinformationssysteme ab. Im abschließenden Fazit werden wichtige Hinweise gegeben, welche Herausforderungen einer besonderen Beachtung bedürfen.

Zur Sicherung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit erweist sich neben der (Weiter-)Entwicklung innovativer Produkte oder dem Einsatz moderner Fertigungstechnologien insbesondere die Erschließung von Optimierungspotentialen im Bereich der Produktion als notwendig. Dabei gewinnen Managementinformationssysteme wie MES-Lösungen weiter an Bedeutung und Verbreitung, um ein ganzheitliches Wissensmanagement zu unterstützen und eine Optimierung von Geschäftsprozessen zu erreichen.
