Since the unfortunate events of September 11, 2001, there exists a newfound and prevalent dependency on private security in the United States. Government officials do not protect the majority of private infrastructure in this country, but rather, private security officers. An effective private security position is one that requires trust and integrity, as well as a sense of professionalism. The hiring of incompetent personnel can result in litigation, loss of revenue, and personal harm to both employees and clients in organizations. There are multiple layers of securityoriented vetting, but the preemployment hiring process is crucial to meeting objectives while safeguarding organizational assets. The likelihood of the unsuccessful hiring of an employee is usually correlational to the extent of background investigations conducted before employment.
