SUMMARY
Measuring of back diffusion after incomplete sorption requires-in comparision to permeation measurements -a shorter testing time and can indicate alterations near the surface. Weathering of Polyethylene (PE) reduced the back diffusion. This effect is caused by higher density (indicating higher cristallinity) after ageing of this polymer. Irradiating of PE by X-rays also reduces back diffusion due to ageing and cross linking. All measurements are done by the carrier gas method using a gas chromatograph with FID. The method is sensitive, selective and allows nondestructive testing of polymers. The details of the measuring cell are described.Vortrag anlaalich des 17. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
