This paper develops a length-biased of the exponentiated inverted Weibull (EIW) distribution, it is named as the length-biased exponentiated inverted Weibull (LBEIW). Some probability functions are derived, including the moments of this distribution. The length-biased inverted Weibull (LBIW) distribution is presented as a special case of the LBEIW distribution. Maximum likelihood estimation method is employed to parameter estimation. Finally, a real dataset of distance between cracks in a pipe is used to illustrate by fitting the LBEIW, EIW, LBIW and Weibull distributions to the data. It is shown that the LBEIW and EIW distributions can be fitted well.
The objective of this research is to study factors influencing the household debt of people in Bangkok and metropolitan area of Thailand. Using data from the 2017 household socio-economic survey from National Statistics Office (NSO) of Thailand, the results of logistic regression analysis indicate that four variables affecting indebtedness of the household are household sizes, number of people who get wages, remittance receiving, and loan for emergency. Overall, the logistic regression analysis correctly classifies 67.7% of indebtedness of household.
The purpose of this paper is to study and compare the methods for constructing confidence intervals for variance components in an unbalanced one-way random effects model. The methods are based on a classical exact, generalised pivotal quantity, a fiducial inference and a fiducial generalised pivotal quantity. The comparison of criteria involves the empirical coverage probability that maintains at the nominal confidence level of 0.95 and the shortest average length of the confidence interval. The simulation results show that the method based on the generalised pivotal quantity and the fiducial inference perform very well in terms of both the empirical coverage probability and the average length of the confidence interval. The classical exact method performs well in some situations, while the fiducial generalised pivotal quantity performs well in a very unbalanced design. Therefore, the method based on the generalised pivotal quantity is recommended for all situations.
Background
Fundamental knowledge on the seasonal reproductive microanatomy and endocrinology of reptiles has been collected from several studies of various species. The present study was to determine annual changes in hormonal profiles, and detailed histomorphometric and histochemical characteristics of the entire male reproductive system of the tropical agamid lizard, Leiolepis ocellata.
Results
Male L. ocellata individuals (n = 75) collected from the territory of two provinces (Lampang and Tak) in northern Thailand exhibited annual variation in sex hormonal, histomorphometric, and histochemical characteristics of the male reproductive system. The reproductive cycle was subdivided into eight reproductive periods (early first active, first active, resting, second recrudescent, second active, regressive, quiescent, and first recrudescent), thus displaying a bimodal pattern with two actively reproductive periods. Circulating sex hormones (testosterone, estradiol, and progesterone) peaked in the first active (February) and the second active (June–July) periods. Likewise, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and histomorphometric variables of the testes and of the genital ducts (rete testis, ductuli efferentes, ductus epididymis, and ductus deferens) revealed their highest values in the first active period. Marked increase in protein and carbohydrate production was detectable in the ductuli efferentes during the active periods.
Conclusions
The male reproductive cycle of L. ocellata showed a biannual pattern of the hormonal profile, and detailed histomorphometric and histochemical characteristics of the entire reproductive system. Hence, the present study provides improved basic knowledge on the reptilian reproductive biology with comparative viewpoints to other reptiles.
