Este trabalho propõe um estudo enunciativo de prefácios de tradutores, entendidos como paratextos (cf. Genette 1987), à luz da Linguística dos prefácios de Henri Mitterand (1980), cuja base é a teoria da enunciação de Émile Benveniste. Tal texto tem, de acordo com Mitterrand (1987), características linguísticas regulares, o que permite falar em uma “gramática prefacial”. Inspirado em Benveniste, Mitterand considera que o prefácio carrega as características do discurso em geral. O corpus estudado é composto de oito (08) prefácios que abordam o processo tradutório. Como conclusão, damos destaque à relevância dos aspectos enunciativos da instância prefacial de uma tradução - que condensa um fragmento da experiência do tradutor ao descrever a sua atividade e justificar as tomadas de decisão - como índice da visibilidade e da presença do tradutor na obra traduzida.
