A importância do pensamento crítico e de como esta competência é desenvolvida nos alunos dos mestrados brasileiros em Contabilidade é primordial para o amadurecimento dos programas nacionais. O objetivo dessa pesquisa consiste em demonstrar como o pensamento crítico é desenvolvido dentro da disciplina de Controladoria, nos programas de mestrado em Contabilidade, à luz da Taxonomia de Bloom revisada. Para isto, utilizou-se da lente da Taxonomia com análise bidimensional caracterizada pelo desenvolvimento do conhecimento e pelas dimensões do processo cognitivo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa com entrevistas aos docentes do objeto do estudo. Utilizou- se a técnica de análise de conteúdo e os dados foram compilados com auxílio do sistema Atlas. ti. Como resultado, observou-se que o pensamento crítico está sendo desenvolvido com maior ênfase na dimensão do processo cognitivo no estágio “Aplicar” com intersecção na dimensão conhecimento ao nível “Procedural”. Isso revela que os docentes desta disciplina têm maior enfoque na execução de metodologias dentro de um contexto único, característico do conhecimento “Procedural”. As demais ações predominantes dos docentes encontram-se em níveis intermediários do conhecimento e dispersos em diferentes estágios do processo cognitivo, o que demonstra a existência de um espaço a ser explorado tanto no nível “Metacognitivo”, quanto nos estágios do processo cognitivo “Avaliar” e “Criar”. Como contribuições à prática, esta pesquisa visa trazer à reflexão crítica as atividades e ações dos programas de pós-graduação em Contabilidade quanto ao desenvolvimento do pensar crítico necessário aos futuros pesquisadores e professores.
