Đặt vấn đề: Bệnh lao hiện nay vẫn còn là một vấn đề sức khỏe cộng đồng đáng quan tâm. Vùng Đồng bằng sông Cữu Long, tần suất mắc bệnh lao mới và lao kháng thuốc của một số tỉnh vẫn chưa giảm nhiều, tạo nên gánh nặng bệnh tật, ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng đến kinh tế, xã hội của vùng. Nhằm hỗ trợ cho chiến lược giảm thiểu bệnh lao một cách bền vững, các nghiên cứu dịch tễ học phân tử vi khuẩn lao cần được thực hiện. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu: Xác định tỉ lệ và đặc điểm phân bố của các dòng vi khuẩn lao mới lưu hành tại Đồng Tháp. Đối tượng và phương pháp nghiên cứu: Thu thập mẫu các chủng vi khuẩn lao từ mẫu đàm sau nuôi cấy dương tính ở bệnh nhân được chẩn đoán xác định mắc bệnh lao các thể, tại các tổ chống lao thuộc huyện, thị xã, thành phố và bệnh viện lao tỉnh Đồng Tháp. Các chủng vi khuẩn lao được ly trích DNA và thực hiện kỹ thuật giải trình tự bộ gen vi khuẩn lao bằng công nghệ giải trình tự gen thế hệ mới (NGS: New generation sequencing). Phân tích dữ liệu gen có được bằng các phần mềm tin sinh học. Kết quả: Trong 195 mẫu chủng vi khuẩn lao phân tích được, Tỉ lệ dòng Bejing chiếm 46,1%, dòng EAI chiếm 47,2% và dòng T/H chiếm 6,7%. Các dưới dòng vi khuẩn lao được phát hiện, dòng Bejing có dưới dòng Bejing-RD181 chiếm cao nhất (67,8%), dòng EAI có dưới dòng EAI4-VNM chiếm cao nhất (76%) và dòng T/H có dưới dòng T/H chiếm 38,5% và dưới dòng T1/T2/T3/T5 chiếm 30,8%. Các dưới dòng khác chiếm tỷ lệ thấp. Dòng Bejing phổ biến ở nhóm bệnh nhân lao kháng thuốc (85,2%), nhóm bệnh nhân lao cộng đồng (55,2%) và lao tái phát (72,7%), lại thuộc dòng EAI là chủ yếu. Nhóm bệnh nhân mắc lao nặng tại bệnh viện, chủng vi khuẩn lao phân bố đều ở cả 3 dòng: Bejing (46,3%), EAI (41,5%) và T/H (12,2%). Kết luận: Các chủng vi khuẩn lao mới của tỉnh Đồng Tháp thuộc dòng Bejing và EAI chiếm ưu thế.
