Trang Bang is the largest agricultural production district of TayNinh province, Vietnam that has a great influence on the socio-economic development of the whole province. This study assessed land use -land cover change in Trang Bang district from 1995 to 2017, the results provide scientific evidence for the safe and effective identification of causes and safeguards for mulch. The study was conducted by an expert classification system and the land use/land cover (LULC) was classified into 6 classes: food-crops, fruit-tree, water, built-up, industry and shrub. The result showed that the LULC there decreased between 1995 and 2017. All the two land cover types (food-crops, fruit-tree) decreased 141.2 km 2 (41.4%) in 2017 compared with 1995, while the area of industrial and urban land (industry, built-up) increased 70.0 km 2 (20.6%). The overall classification accuracies in 1995, 2007, and 2017 were 94.2%, 98.0%, and 96.3% respectively. The overall kappa coefficients for the image classification were 0. 90, 0.97, and 0.94 in 1995, 2007, and 2017 respectively. In general, the average classification was above 90%, and this proved that the classification was reliable and acceptable. The result show that the LULC in the study area decreased during 1997-2017 and tended to decrease in recent years.
Allometric models play an undeniable role for estimating hard-to-measure quantities such as volume, biomass and carbon stock in forests. However, so far there has been limited model development for native forests in Vietnam. Therefore, this study was conducted to build and analyze the effectiveness of nonlinear and mixed models for secondary and old-growth forests in Gia Lai, Vietnam. The study measured diameter at breast height, total height, commercial height and crown width of forest trees in 20 plots (10 plots for each forest stage). The results showed that diameter had the strongest relationship with height. In the secondary forest, the Power, Korf and Ratskowky models were the best for pairs of variables, while Prodan, Weibull and Power models were the best fit in the old-growth forest. The nonlinear mixed-effect models were better than classic nonlinear models in both forest stages. Fixed and mixed models developed in this study are very valuable for estimating difficult-to-measure quantities and contribute to effective forest management in the study region.
Background: There are many new methods for evaluating the left ventricular systolic function. The aim of this study was to compare the methods, which evaluate the systolic function such as M-modeTeichholz method, tissue Doppler imaging with Sm wave.
Methods: 65 patients hospitalized with hypertension and dilated cardiomyopathy. All patients underwent echocardiographic examination by M-mode, two- dimensional, Doppler and tissue Doppler Imaging.
Results:When left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) reduced, TDI with Sm velocity were also lower (p<0.001). When lateral Sm of mitral valve ring were > 7.7 cm/s and septal Sm mitral valve ring were > 6cm/s, EF ≥ 50% with the sensitivity 96,2% and the specificity 89.7%.
Conclusions: Sm wave velocity may be used reliably to assess the left ventricular performance regardless of the patient’s echogenity.
Key words: Tisue Doppler, Systolic left ventricular function
