Introdução. A má qualidade do sono em crianças, provocada por distúrbios do sono e/ou maus hábitos do sono, podem afetar a qualidade de vida e o desenvolvimento cognitivo. Objetivo. Relacionar as principais queixas de memória com os aspectos subjetivos do sono em crianças e o impacto da qualidade do sono na memória. Método. Participaram 71 responsáveis de escolares, matriculados em uma escola pública, de 6 a 11 anos (8,52±1,54), que responderam uma anamnese, o Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ-PT) e o Prospective and Retrospective Memory Questionnaire (PMRQ). Resultados. 68% das crianças apresentaram alto índice de perturbação do sono e 8% com queixa de memória prospectiva de curto prazo. Houve associação da queixa de dificuldade escolar com o Índice de perturbação do sono (p=0,050) e resistência em ir para a cama (p=0,035) do CSHQ-PT. Notou-se associação entre a percepção de desempenho escolar com despertares noturnos do CSHQ-PT (p=0,037). Verificou-se correlações positivas entre as variáveis das memórias de longo prazo, curto prazo, prospectiva e retrospectiva em relação ao índice de perturbação do sono, resistência em ir para a cama, despertares noturnos, parassonias, perturbação respiratória do sono e sonolência diurna. Conclusão. Ocorreu relação do impacto da qualidade do sono nas queixas de memória.
