A cetoacidose diabética (CAD) é uma complicação aguda do Diabetes Mellitus (DM) caracterizada por hiperglicemia, acidose metabólica, desidratação e cetose que decorre da deficiência profunda de insulina. Acomete principalmente pacientes com DM tipo 1 e geralmente é precipitada por condições infecciosas ou omissão da administração da insulina. OBJETIVO: Avaliar os pacientes diagnosticados com CAD internados em uma unidade de terapia intensiva (UTI) adulta de um hospital escola da região Noroeste do Paraná. METODOLOGIA: Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo transversal em pacientes de ambos os sexos e de todas as faixas etárias internados na UTI adulta no hospital onde a pesquisa foi realizada e que foram diagnosticados com a CAD no período de maio 2020 a maio 2021. Os achados laboratoriais foram retirados dos prontuários de pacientes e planilhados e analisados no software Microsoft Excel.
