Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar o efeito de um protocolo de terapia manual no sintoma e na qualidade de vida de indivíduos com zumbido inespecífico. Durante a avaliação os indivíduos foram submetidos ao Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), para identificar a quantificação do impacto do zumbido na qualidade de vida, e a Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) para identificar a intensidade do zumbido. Desenvolveu-se um protocolo de terapia manual baseado na mobilização dos músculos esternocleidoocciptomastoideos e masseteres, movimento circunferencial dos ossos temporais e técnica do “puxão de orelha”. A amostra foi constituída por 11 pacientes, sendo 63,6% feminino e 36,3%. A idade média dos participantes foi 71,6 anos. Verificou-se uma melhora significativa (p = 0,0002) para o THI e para o sintoma de zumbido (p = 0,0001). Conclui-se que a terapia manual promoveu a melhora do sintoma de zumbido e da qualidade de vida dos participantes do estudo.Palavra-chave: zumbido, manipulações musculoesqueléticas, fisioterapia, qualidade de vida.
