Umas das maiores preocupações dos profissionais de odontologia com relação ao uso de cremes dentais a base de carvão ativado, é o quanto este produto é prejudicial para os indivíduos que fazem o uso do mesmo de forma rotineira. Por trás desses produtos, é produzido um marketing propagando uma falsa eficácia desses dentifrícios dentais, onde prometem o clareamento efetivo e rapidez no resultado. Com isso, as pessoas acabam tendo uma pretensão de que seus dentes irão clarear com a escovação, e acabam colocando em risco o esmalte dental, sendo possível que ocorram danos ao periodonto, podendo surgir cáries, ou até pigmentação nos dentes. Com o demasiado crescimento dos cremes dentais com carvão ativado em sua composição e de pessoas que fazem o seu uso, é necessário que os profissionais Cirurgiões-dentistas estejam aptos para fazerem com que os seus pacientes tenham mais cuidado com produtos que não são eficazes e que realizem o clareamento dental no consultório odontológico, fazendo com que o tratamento seja seguro e bem realizado.
Com o grande índice de crescimento da população de idosos, acamados e domiciliados, dando destaque para os países em desenvolvimento, lamentavelmente, existe um desânimo dos cirurgião-dentista, por conta dos grandes desafios existentes nessa área de atuação, desde as limitações de espaço e materiais, até as particularidades metabólicas e físicas. Ademais a formação das más informações que oferecem à paciente uma percepção baixa sobre a importância da saúde bucal. Sendo assim, o objetivo desse trabalho é ressaltar a relevância da vivência do atendimento domiciliar odontológico na comunidade ainda durante a graduação, começando desde a anamnese até o atendimento clínico no espaço que o paciente reside. Para apoiar a discussão deste trabalho foi realizada buscas de artigos nas bases de dados: Google acadêmico, SCIELO e Pubmed. Sendo notório que se torna indispensável a participação e colaboração do CD durante as visitas domiciliares. Com isso o artigo mostra a relevância da agregação a grade curricular a matéria que compõe o atendimento domiciliar tanto na teoria quanto na prática para os acadêmicos em formação.
