RESUMOO objetivo deste estudo é examinar os fatores que determinam a decisão de pagar dividendos de empresas listadas na BM&FBovespa. O estudo foi desenvolvido com base na Teoria da Sinalização. A presente pesquisa busca inserir-se no processo de discussão sobre a política de dividendos e seus fatores determinantes, no intuito de estimular a reflexão sobre a temática. A amostra pesquisada contemplou 96 companhias listadas na BM&FBovespa, exceto as classificadas no setor econômico "Financeiro e Outros", devido às características singulares de suas atividades, constituindo-se um total de 480 observações no período de 2010 a 2014, com aplicação da técnica de Regressão Logística Binominal de Dados em Painel. Foram utilizadas no estudo como variáveis explicativas alavancagem, crescimento, liquidez, tamanho e rentabilidade. Os resultados demonstram que no universo das empresas brasileiras, a Alavancagem, Liquidez e Rentabilidade, são os fatores determinantes do pagamento de dividendos de empresas brasileiras listadas em bolsa. Pode-se concluir o estudo trouxe contribuições no âmbito das pesquisas que permeiam o universo dos fatores determinantes da política de dividendos no Brasil, na medida em que permite a comparação dos seus resultados com as pesquisas recentes, sem, contudo, eliminar as controvérsias existentes no âmbito da distribuição a título de pagamento de dividendos.Palavras-chave: Política de Dividendos; Indicadores Financeiros; Regressão Logística. ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of dividend payment from BM&FBovespa listed companies. The study was developed based on signaling theory. The present research seeks to be part of the process of discussion about the dividend policy and its determining factors, in order to stimulate reflection on the theme. The sample surveyed included 96 from BM&FBovespa listed companies, except for those classified in the "financial and other" economic sector, due to the singular characteristics of its activities, constituting a total of 480 observations in the period from 2010 to 2014, applying the technique of binominal logistic regression of panel data. They were used in the study as explanatory variables leverage, growth, liquidity, size and profitability.
