O Acidente Vascular Cerebral é a segunda principal causa de óbitos no mundo e promove alterações de sensibilidade como, por exemplo, a dor que é um sintoma subjetivo de uma alteração sensorial ou emocional que leva a uma sensação desagradável, podendo envolver aspectos psicossociais e até mesmo culturais. O tratamento da dor pode ocorrer através de fármacos, por procedimentos invasivos, por métodos físicos e psicoterapia. O objetivo foi pesquisar as abordagens fisioterapêuticas, clínicas, educativas e informativas no alívio da dor de pacientes após acidente vascular cerebral. A coleta de dados foi realizada nas bases de dados MEDLINE, na PubMed, na Lilacs, na Bireme, na Science Direct e na Science Electronic Library Online, considerando o período entre janeiro de 2006 a março de 2016. Para estratégia de busca foi utilizada as seguintes palavras-chave: “stroke” AND “pain” AND “physical therapy” e “acidente vascular encefálico” AND “dor” AND “fisioterapia”. Compuseram essa revisão 9 artigos que estavam relacionados com a fisioterapia e suas abordagens clínicas na dor de pacientes após acidente vascular cerebral. As abordagens fisioterápicas, clínicas, educativas e informativas, promoveram um alívio da dor e diminuição das sequelas de pacientes após o acidente vascular cerebral e consequentemente melhora da qualidade de vida.
