Este estudo busca compreender as mensagens de protesto por meio da música da banda Black Sabbathresponsável por um dos maiores fenômenos musicais mundiais ao lançar o álbum Paranoid. Letras, som e vestuário compuseram uma coletânea que mobilizou milhares de jovens em todo o mundo. O movimento instaurado pelo grupo inglês criticava os governos como produtores de guerras, das violências e da destruição da Natureza, apresentando outra performance na maneira de comunicar por meio de músicas de protesto que registraram tais fatos. Impacto que chegou a ser alvo de censura porque a banda influenciava profundamente a geração jovem da época. Os conflitos do Século XX, tratados pelo gênero heavy metal, contêm similaridade com os deste século e reativam os sons de protesto que impactam, nesta era de globalização, o campo comunicacional e o jornalismo cultural. Compreendê-los é desafio de sintonizar as faixas, as batidas e desvelar os gritos musicais.
