A identificação da acuidade visual em crianças que ainda não sabem ler é objeto deste estudo. O Programa Saúde na Escola (PSE) tem como um dos seus objetivos avaliar a acuidade visual (AV) dos escolares. O estudo bibliométrico permitiu descrever as características das publicações sobre acuidade visual em crianças que ainda não sabem ler, os recursos e as estratégias empregados para identificação da AV nessas crianças, objetivos do estudo. Foram encontrados 86 textos, dos quais 19 foram selecionados. Identificou-se na literatura que a idade mais frequente de avaliação da acuidade visual é seis anos. As escalas de Snellen, de Teller e RAD são recursos para avaliar a acuidade visual de crianças que ainda não sabem ler, sendo Snellen a mais utilizada. Destes, a RAD destaca-se por ser graduada em figuras, sendo mais adequada para crianças que ainda não sabem ler. Percebeu-se ainda que os autores enfermeiros não abordam o emprego de diagnóstico de enfermagem sobre acuidade visual.
