The dislocation arrangement of Fe‐35 at% Ni single crystals, oriented for single glide, is investigated by TEM. The dislocations are mainly arranged in bundles of edge dipoles (quite similar to the arrangement of neutron irradiated copper). The dislocation density at the end of stage I is considerable (≈ 1015 m−2). The higher density of edge dislocations is in accordance with existing theories of the Invarhardening.
