Die diesjiihrige Tagung ,,Kunststoffe im Automobilbau" der VDI-Gesellschaft Kunststoffe wurde gemeinsam mit der Fachtagung ,,Textilien und Oberflachenmaterialien" als Parallelveranstaltung durchgefuhrtzweifellos eine Bereicherung fur die uber 1400 Teilnehmer. Nach einem GruRwort von Herrn Dr.-lng. A. Lijfler, Bosch A G eroffnete der Tagungsleiter Dr.-Ing. J. W. Skowwnnek die Veranstaltung, wobei er ebensct wie sein Vorredner auf die momentane Situation der Automobilindustrie einging. Der zu verzeichnende Aufschwung der Branche geht, wie auch schon in den Vorjahren, einher mit einer verstiirkten Globalisierung hinsichtlich der Markte und des Zulieferwettbewerbs, mit einer Verbreiterung der Angebotspalette bis hin zu Nischenprodukten, die ZLI Baukastensystemen zwingt und mit einer verstiirkten Integration im Zulieferbereich. Der Systemintegrator wird dabei in Zukunft auch Aufgaben ubernehmen, die bisher ausschlieUlich dem Hersteller zukamen. Erfolg setzt zunehmend die vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit von Materialhersteller, Systementwickler, Verarbeiter und Automobilhersteller voraus. Neuer Vorsitzender des Fachbeirates ,,Kunststoffe im PKW und Nutzfahrzeugbau" der VDI-Gesellschaft Kunststoffe ist Herr Ds rer: nut. Rudolj'Stuuher, RMWAG. Miinchen. Er tritt die Nachfolge von H e m Dr.-lng. Skowronnek an. der ihm das Amt anlaBlich der Fachtagung offiziell ubergab. Dr. Stauber studierte Chemie und Physik an den Universitaten Wurzburg und Mainz und promovierte in analytischer und makromolekularer Chemie in Wurzburg. Seit 1979 ist er in verschiedenen leitenden Positionen bei BMW tiitig, seit I998 als Leiter der Hauptabteilung Betriebsfestigkeit und Werkstoffe im BMW-Forschungsund Ingenieurzentrum, Munchen.
