ÖzAraştırma, Kocaeli ilindeki hasta ve hasta yakınlarının "hasta hakları ve hasta hakları birimi hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri ile faydalanma durumlarını" belirleme amacıyla yürütülmüştür.Söz konusu amaca uygun olarak, Kocaeli ili; İzmit Seka Devlet Hastanesi, İzmit Kadın Doğum ve Çocuk Hastalıkları Hastanesi, Kocaeli Devlet Hastanesi ve Derince Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesine tedavi görmek için başvuran 18 yaş üstü hasta ve yakınları arasından tabakalı örneklem tekniğine göre belirlenen toplam 316 hasta ve yakınına, hasta hakları hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri ve faydalanma durumlarını ölçen soru kâğıdı uygulanmıştır. Veriler, saha araştırması (survey) şeklinde yüz yüze görüşme yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler, SPSS aracılığıyla analiz edilip, yorumlanmıştır.Ortaya çıkan temel bulgular ise, hasta haklarının hasta ve yakınları tarafından bilinme düzeyi yüzde 81,8; hasta ve yakınlarının hasta haklarından faydalanma oranı ortalama yüzde 49,1; hasta ve yakınlarının yüzde 18,1'inin en az bir kez Hasta Hakları Birimine başvurusu olduğu; başvuranların da yüzde 86,8'i başvurusuyla ilgili birim sorumlularının kendileriyle kısmen ya da yeterince ilgilendiği tespit edilmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Hasta ve Yakınları; Hasta Hakları; Hasta Hakları Birimi AbstractThe study was conducted in order to find out the knowledge level of patients and patients' relatives in Kocaeli province about the "patient rights and patient rights unit" and their taking advantage of situation.For obtaining information, the patients and patient relatives who are over 18 years and seeking treatment from Izmit Seka Public Hospital, Izmit Children's and Maternity Hospital, Kocaeli Public Hospital, and Derince Training and Research Hospital, 316 patient and patient relatives selected by applying the stratified sampling technique, a questionnaire that measures their knowledge level about and their use of patient rights. The data were obtained through face to face meetings in the form of a survey. The obtained data was analyzed and interpreted by SPSS.The key findings are as follows: the patients' and their relatives' level of awareness of the patient rights is 81.8 percent; the patients' and their relatives' benefitting from patient rights approximately 49.1 percent; the patients or their relatives have made an application to the Patient Rights Unit at least one time; 86.8 percent of these applications were non-exhaustively or sufficiently taken care of by the unit officers.
